COMMUNITY INFORMATION

Capitol Hill Charm

With its impressive row homes and brick lined streets, Capitol Hill is one of DC’s most popular places to live, work and play. Folks are drawn to the neighborhood for its hip restaurant and shopping scene, walkability and historic charm. And in case you missed the metonym, Capitol Hill is also the seat of the US Government, home to the US Capitol, the Library of Congress and the Supreme Court.

The Hill is Home

Capitol Hill is one of DC’s largest historic residential neighborhood, and one of the oldest. Locals love shopping for fresh, local produce at historic Eastern Market, hunting through the crowded shelves at Capitol Hill Books for old novels and other treasures, perusing Frager’s Hardware for all things home improvement and roaming Congressional Cemetery with their pups.

Essential Hill

Don’t miss Rose’s Luxury on Barracks Row for an amazing one of a kind dinner (Note: they only take reservations 2 weeks out), pop into Little Pearl late morning or early afternoon for a hip snack, or for dinner (they serve a mean prix fixe of their favorite dishes in the evening, at a great price!) or hit up nearby Maketto on for a signature cool vibe. More notable landmarks in the area include Washington Navy Yard, the H Street Corridor and Union Market.

It's Easy to Get Here

Our Hill-living agents appreciate the accessibility and ease of getting around this neighborhood. You might start out taking the Metro to one of the many nearby stops at Capitol South, Union Station or Eastern Market to explore the neighborhood. There are quite a few Capital Bikeshare stations in the area, and east of the Capitol building the streets are flat and the blocks are relatively short, making biking or walking a great way to get around.
