Located in Northeast DC, the neighborhood of Brookland offers tremendous retail and restaurant opportunities close to the heart of the nation’s capital. It features tree-lined streets, single-family residences, and a new town center. Largely constructed during the Art Deco era, Brookland’s commercial district, 12th Street, NE, is filled with walkable restaurants, cafes and shops.
Brookland is also home to several tourist destinations and cultural attractions. The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the largest Catholic Church in the United States, forms the architectural heart of Brookland. The area is invigorated by Catholic University, Trinity University, the Howard University Divinity School and the Franciscan Monastery, which provide a population in excess of 10,000 students, faculty and staff. In addition, there are six nearby hospitals including the Washington Hospital Center and Children’s Hospital.
