Tomorrow at 10am there will be a hearing on legislation proposed by D.C. Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie (Ward 5) regarding short-term rentals in the city.
The new legislation aims to put a number of restrictions and regulations on short-term rentals. The item that will alarm just about anyone who has been renting out their basement as a short-term rental is that the new legislation would limit you to renting it for a maximum of 15 days a year, cumulatively. There is no cap on “home-sharing while the owner is present, including offering private rooms and shared spaces.”
