We've received a number of inquiries from colleagues around the country asking if the D.C. real estate market is affected by an election year or an administration change. The truth is, the effect is pretty minimal, if there is one at all.

The D.C. metropolitan area has a population of 6,097,684, and of that only 14.1 percent works for the Federal Government. Of those, roughly 3,000 are politically appointed or elected jobs. If you live in DC, remember to go online to request your Visitor Parking Permit. The VPP is available to eligible households in Wards 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 as well as ANC 2F. Each household may only receive one (1) annual VPP. For additional passes, residents may request a temporary visitor parking permit from their local Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) station or substation. A resident can find their local police station or substation at http://geospatial.dcgis.dc.gov/PSAFinder/.

A Visitor Parking Permit grants the user, displaying the VPP properly on the driver side dashboard, temporary residential permit parking privileges during the hours and days that RPP restrictions on the block are enforced.

The land surrounding RFK Stadium will not be sitting under-used for much longer. While long-term plans are still being considered, and many are still interested in bringing a sports venue back to the space, the city is moving forward on plans for the area in the short term.

These plans could bring a host of new amenities to the east side of Capitol Hill and add more connections to the neighborhoods across the river.

The short-term plans, which could be implemented in the next two to five years, will bring playing fields, a memorial to Robert F Kennedy, a market hall, a sports complex, pedestrian bridges across the river, and more.

The next community meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 15 from 7-9pm at St. Coletta School Of Greater
