Just behind Union Station and to the east side of the railroad tracks stands Uline Arena, a massive structure that set as a parking lot, for years. Douglas Development purchased the property in 2004 and is now turning the historic location into offices and retail, around an anchoring REI Flagship Store - it's fifth in the country.

The Hill is Home shares a bit about the building's impressive history:

"In case you’re not familiar with this building, the Uline Arena was, for many years, a key venue and gathering place. Originally built by Miguel Uline in the early 1940s thanks to his large ice business, the site was a hockey arena –home of the Washington Lions– as well as a venue for ice skating, and very much segregated–much like Glen Echo
